Upon being around so much 'baby excitement', Sid feels like he wants some kids. His wish is granted when he stumbles upon three eggs, which hatch and are revealed to be dinosaur eggs. Thus, our adventure begins.
Needless to say, most of the key characters have inner struggles that they are dealing with. The film also introces a new character, a crazy cool weasel named Buck. After the film, my boyfriend told me Buck reminded him of Jack Sparrow from the acclaimed 'Pirates of the Caribbean' franchise. I see the resemblance, as Buck is a little on the wild side and has a hunger for adventure.
The animation was beautiful. With each film in the series, the animation gets better. The scenery and colors were great, and the characters were well done as well.
A lot of people seem to have an issue with the dinosaurs. They claim it isn't realistic. My only argument against that is, "Do you think the first two were all that realistic?" if you see this film, you just need to let your imagination stretch a bit. Accept that there are dinosaurs in it, and you'll love it. Don't get hung up on the fact that dinosaurs were long gone before the Ice Age.
The film moves at a fast pace and has many laughs along the way. It's a great adventure and I really think it will be popular when it hits theaters. The script was pretty good, the soundtrack was excellent, and I really can't pin point anything that is extremely wrong with this movie. 好萊塢的那幫大仙們，憑著天馬行空的想像力，幾乎把世間萬物都納入了他們的創作之中，小到《霍頓與無名氏》中的微生物，大到《冰河時代》中的恐龍猛獁象，從《尋找尼姆》中的深海汪洋到《WALL-E》中的浩瀚宇宙，從《馬達加斯加》中美國紐約中央公園到《獅子王》中廣袤的非洲草原，從阿拉伯傳說《阿拉丁》到中國故事《花木蘭》等等，可以說只要你能想到的領域，幾乎都被好萊塢動畫涉及。這樣一來，只要技術許可，好萊塢動畫的題材就無窮無盡，而技術保障又恰恰是最不是問題的問題。正是這種題材創造上的廣泛性，保證了好萊塢動畫電影永遠充滿了神奇，永遠都有你想不到的故事出現，而且這些題材的廣泛性足以包容全球文化，這個咱就得佩服美國文化的軟實力和其背後強大的技術支持了。而我們國內的動畫電影總是逃不出傳統的題材，一部《大鬧天空》幾十年來一直成為一個難以逾越的高峰，這不是榮耀，而恰恰是悲哀。有人會說我們的動漫技術不成熟，這個是事實，那麼我們在3D領域沒有優勢，在平面動畫方面技術上應該不成問題了吧？日本的好多優秀動畫電影都是平面的，可見內容永遠大於形式。《灰太狼與喜洋洋》似乎叫我們看到了一絲曙光，但願這不是曇花一現。
法寶三：內容的娛樂性
當然好萊塢動畫最大的賣點就是它娛樂性。就拿《冰河時代3》中的樹獺希德來講，這是一個油嘴滑舌、見風使舵但有一顆善良的心靈的市井小混混形象，他幾乎就是《冰河時代》系列的靈魂人物，也是這個系列的最大的娛樂點。他有著普通人類的一切弱點，但是又有著普通人類的基本人性，正是這種草根性，保證了影片整體上的親民性，所以人們再怎麼給電影挑刺，你看完了都得笑一笑，你一笑，錢沒了，那電影就算成功了。有意思的幾乎好萊塢所有的動畫電影中都有一兩個類似希德的角色，比如《史萊克》系列中的驢子、《花木蘭》系列裡的木須龍、《獅子王》系列中的大猩猩和後來出現的那個那兩個活寶——丁滿和彭彭，這些角色的出現極大的增強了影片的娛樂色彩，有的甚至反客為主，成為人們心目中印象極深的「主角」。這就要歸功於好萊塢動畫製作者善於製造和販賣娛樂的能力了，這種能力幾乎已經工業化，形成了生產流水線。角色的基本套路已經確定，只要創造一個角色按照這個套路走，基本就成功了。只要逗樂了大家，你還能說什麼？你看得不就是一個樂呵嗎？
法寶四：情節的擬人性
個人覺得這一點幾乎是動畫電影的靈魂，擬人化這個工作做好了，出來的東西就可能是精品。《冰河時代3》中出現了一個類似於堂吉訶德式的人物——鼬鼠巴克，這個角色身上體現的是人類身上更深層次的東西，那就是一種追求，一種具有自我犧牲精神的追求，雖然角色荒誕，但是我們又不能不承認這種精神確實在人類身上可以找到。好萊塢動畫最值得稱道地方在於，能把某些道理在嬉笑怒罵的娛樂之中講出來，叫你笑過之後，還得回味，而不是機械地說教。叫我至今印象深刻的地方是在《獅子王》中，刀疤望著逃離的小辛巴的影子，陰沉地對土狼（如果我沒記錯的話）說：「殺了他！」——這一情景活脫脫地是一副動畫版的黑社會老大的樣子，叫人玩味無窮。在《霍頓與無名氏》中，最後的結局表明真理往往是掌握在少數人手上，片中的宏觀世界和微觀世界最終歸於美好，但是現實中卻往往難以達到這樣一種皆大歡喜的結果，因此使得影片整體上的內涵更加深刻。《WALL-E》中更是把人類的末世情節和對愛的渴望淋漓盡致地運用到了機器人的身上，觀看本片幾乎成了一次心靈升華的過程。反觀我國的動畫電影，總是免不了說教，更可笑的是我們進行傳統文化教育、品德情操教育、愛國主義教育也往往是臨時的說教，而不懂得潛移默化寓教於樂才是王道。
除此之外就是在動畫技術上的領先性，這個是有目共睹的，無需再說。
《冰河時代3》不能算一部經典的動畫片，但它有著好萊塢動畫電影的所有特點，動畫效果逼真、老少咸宜、溫情脈脈、娛樂十足。可以說好萊塢動畫電影產業已經形成流水線作業規模，只要劇本搞定，技術保障是毫無問題的。近幾年來好萊塢的動畫電影，盡管質量上有高低，但幾乎鮮有徹底失敗的例子。因為從流水線上出來的東西，都具備上述幾個為人們所認可的特點，只是在這幾個特點的整合上有高低之分，但這足以保證未出場已經穩操勝券了，剩下的不過是賺錢多少的問題了。
因此《冰河時代3》拍得未必多成功，但賺錢賺得高明，這種高明之處需要中國動畫電影人多多學習。

早聽說《冰河世紀》是一部可愛、有趣的動畫片，但是一直沒有看。因為我總覺得現在是大孩子了，還要去看動畫片實在有點幼稚。但是當我真正觀看《冰河世紀》我才發現，原來它真的不僅僅是一部動畫片。因為《冰河世紀》，我徹底的改變了對動畫片的認知，原來不管是否是電影、電視劇，只要故事情節好，用真情打動人心，動畫片只是一種表現形式而已，而相對於故事情節，形式何足掛齒？只要它打動了你的心……
故事講的是一隻樹櫴、一隻老虎與一隻大象為了救一個人類的小孩在途中所遇的種種，影片的故事背景，很適合在這樣一個炎炎夏日來欣賞：這是一個發生在冰河時期的故事，因此所有的場景都是一片白雪皚皚，冰天雪地，看著這樣的畫面，如同身臨其境，彷彿你就處在那樣一個純凈、涼爽而唯美的冰河世紀……，當然畫面只是構成這部影片之所以成為佳作的一個因素，故事情節才是重中之重：人類為了生存，殺害了幾只老虎，而老虎為了復仇，決定生擒人類的一個小孩，幾番爭斗之後，孩子的媽媽為了保護小孩，勇敢的跳入了瀑布下面，並順流直下漂到了河邊，恰好遇到了大象文輝與樹櫴森仔，森仔決定把小孩安全護送到人類手中，這時老虎大阿哥也追了過來，看著身強體壯的大象文輝，老虎不敢輕舉妄動，於是決定跟隨其行，趁機把它們引入老虎圈，那裡埋伏著一群急於報仇及飢餓過度的老虎。可是在追趕人類的途中，它們途經一個火山，老虎不小心差點掉下去，扒著冰沿吊在空中，而身下就是滾燙的熔焰，在這千鈞一發之際，大象文輝為了救老虎大阿哥，不顧身下是搖搖欲墜的薄薄冰層，用鼻子把老虎拉了上來，而它卻因為冰層的斷裂而掉入熔焰之中，那一刻，我的心也隨著它一點點墜落，傷心、遺憾、焦急……而當它的冰層墜落火山口，又被蒸汽沖上懸崖之際，我興奮的表情溢於言表，「好象果然有好報」！而大阿哥也被文輝的舉動所深深震憾，心有餘悸的問文輝為什麼要冒死救它，文輝悠悠的說：因為我們是一夥的！大阿哥徹底放棄了它當初的計劃——即把大象引入埋伏圈，因此當他們即將步入陷阱之時，大阿哥為了拯救文輝，而奮不顧身的與同族虎群撕殺，在大家的共同努力下，虎群被趕走，而它們也終於追上了正在四處尋找小孩的人類，剛開始人類還試圖要殺害大象，可當他們看到大象把背上的孩子安全的放到他們面前時，人類終於明白，它們是朋友，不是敵人，要知道，大象文輝的妻子和孩子都是死於人類之手，而它卻沒有復仇，而是仇將恩報，用它的實際行動感化了人類……
那一刻，我在想，其實動物很多時候真的是最善良的，世上最兇殘的動物其實是人類，而這部片子的初衷正是要喚醒人類的良知，讓他們與動物和平相處，因為地球不是人類自己的，是屬於所有生命的，它們全是大自然的恩賜……
影片不只打動人心，僅僅要俘虜你的眼淚，且輕松詼諧，好多地方都能讓你開懷大笑，比如：樹櫴森仔不小心踩到了另外一隻動物的糞便上，它惡心的甩啊甩，並跑跑跳跳的踩到了另外兩只犀牛好不容易找到的一朵蒲公英上，並把糞便嗖嗖的甩到了犀牛臉上；以及為了飢餓的小孩而與一大群杜杜鳥爭西瓜的時候；還有誤入山洞看到冰封在裡面的各種動物的時候；還有一不小心發明了火種卻因為高興過度尾巴背點著的時候……，大多的搞笑情節，絕對讓你笑中有淚，淚中有笑……

After the events of "Ice Age: The Meltdown", life begins to change for Manny and his friends: Scrat is still on the hunt to hold onto his beloved acorn, while finding a possible romance in a female sabre-toothed squirrel named Scratte. Manny and Ellie, having since become an item, are expecting a baby, which leaves Manny anxious to ensure that everything is perfect for when his baby arrives. Diego is fed up with being treated like a house-cat and ponders the notion that he is becoming too laid-back. Sid begins to wish for a family of his own, and so steals some dinosaur eggs which leads to Sid ending up in a strange underground world where his herd must rescue him, while dodging dinosaurs and facing danger left and right, and meeting up with a one-eyed weasel known as Buck who hunts dinosaurs intently.

Its all about family in essence. Starting one, keeping one, becoming one, protecting one. A family film about family is always going to ring the right bells (unless Eddie Murphys in it), and this is no exception! It's funny, its sharp, it's clever, and when it wants too will tug on your heart strings. It's everything a great family film should be. It has just as much humour to keep the grown ups happy as it does the kids.
It's not perfect; it starts fairly slowly with scenes we've already scene twenty times in the trailer, but the further you go into this adventure the more fun you will have.
A fantastic new addition to the franchise is "Buck" (Simon Pegg) a looney tune hermit possum who joins the herd around half way through. When he enters the scene, the whole movie shifts up a gear! Some of the stuff he comes out with will have you rolling in the isle! If you have the chance, you must see it in 3D! It's amazing how this new version of such an old and dated technology can suck you even deeper into a film! The chases are more exciting, the locations more real, it works so well! And it doesn't give you a migraine!
Overall - Like a franchise should, Ice Age gets better and better and better! If you liked the first, you'll love the second! If you loved the second, you'll go crazy for the third!
